Paradise in Islam
The angels of Paradise guide the believers to the eight gates of Paradise, where they are welcomed with grand feasts. The angels warmly congratulate them for safely reaching the gates of Paradise and for successfully escaping the punishment of Hellfire. Allah says: "And those who feared their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, 'Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein.'" (Quran 39:73)
"O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], and enter among My [righteous] servants and enter My Paradise." (Quran 89:27-30)
The most excellent believers will enter Paradise first, and among them, the most devout will be elevated to the highest ranks. Allah says: "But those who believed and did righteous deeds will have the highest ranks in the Gardens of Eternity." (Quran 20:75)
"And the forerunners, the forerunners - those are the ones brought near [to Allah] in the Gardens of Pleasure." (Quran 56:10-12)
The Quran describes the wondrous scenes of Paradise. It is a land of immense beauty and eternal joy, a place where all our desires will be fulfilled. In Paradise, we will experience pleasures beyond our imagination, pleasures that we have never heard of in this world. Allah describes the scenes of Paradise just as He describes the wonders of the earth.
Paradise is filled with the fragrance of musk, its soil is like saffron, and it is built with bricks of gold and silver, adorned with pearls and gemstones. Rivers of sparkling water, sweet milk, pure honey, and fine wine flow through it. Along the riverbanks, there are grand pavilions made of pearls. The entire space is illuminated and filled with the fragrance of plants and spices. Paradise boasts towering palaces, vast structures, dense vineyards, tall date palms, and enticing pomegranates. There are blooming lotus flowers and acacia trees with golden roots, and an abundance of ripe fruits: nuts, citrus, stone fruits, grapes, watermelons, pears, and exotic tropical fruits. Anything a believer can imagine will be found in Paradise.
"In Paradise, there is for them whatever they wish, and We have more." (Quran 50:35)
Each believer will have the most beautiful, devout, and pure companions, dressed in exquisite garments. In this eternal new world, there will be endless sources of joy. "No soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do." (Quran 32:17)
As for other pleasures, Paradise offers emotional and psychological well-being for its inhabitants. As the Prophet said: "Whoever enters Paradise will enjoy a life of joy. He will never be poor, his clothes will never wear out, and his youth will never fade. People will hear Allah's call: 'I grant you health, you will live forever, you will remain young, and you will always be happy, never to be sad.'" (Muslim)
Finally, the most awe-inspiring moment will be when the inhabitants of Paradise behold the greatness of Allah. We cannot describe this scene. For true believers, seeing the greatness of Allah is the most glorious reward they can receive. "On that Day, some faces will be radiant, looking at their Lord." (Quran 75:22-23)
This is Paradise, the eternal home and ultimate destination for the believers. May the Great Allah fulfill our wishes.
